Redoing your bedroom to showoff your fashion sense

New year, new you, new… bedroom decor? If you’re a fashionista, the new year is the perfect time to overhaul your bedroom to reflect your savvy style.
Here at Modernize, we appreciate a girl who knows exactly what to wear, and we have some tips to make your bedroom as fabulous as you are.

Make a Game Plan

You don’t jump into an outfit decision unprepared. You take stock of your blouses, pants, and shoes. You think about the event, the weather, and the company. So maybe planning your bedroom decor isn’t at the top of your mind, but it’s good to get an idea of where you’re going.
How much do you want to redo? Is there anything you can repurpose?
Ask yourself those tough questions on par with lace or leather, and take some notes.
It may be tempting to jump in without a plan, but this small step can save you a lot of money, especially if you find something to salvage.

Which Outfit Are You?

Is your closet full of bohemian chic? Lace and frills? How about edgy zippers and leather?
No matter your style, you can translate that into your bedroom decor.
Pick out hues that you love to wear, and your bedroom will feel like a giant closet—or a runway.
For an edgy look, go for a slate gray wall color with shiny black accents, then add a pop of color.
A romantic look may involve pastel hues, ornately printed bedding, and a soft, fluffy rug.
If you have an eclectic sense of style, go for a little bit of everything and tie it all together with a common color, shape, or pattern.
Use accessories like hanging lamps, wall art, and small decorations to add your favorite patterns and materials. Start in your closet for inspiration, and dream to your heart’s content!

Ode to the Icons
If you’re obsessed with a perfume, makeup brand, shoe line, supermodel, or celebrity, search for art that incorporates those items and people.
Pop art images of celebrities and brands can add a modern flair to any fashionista’s bedroom.
If you feel more at home with romantic decor, look for soft brush strokes and pastels.
Perhaps you’re inspired by a dress pattern or even one of your own creations. Perfect! You can also frame personal mementos for that an extra sartorial touch. A picture frame is a great way to add a pop of color. You can even create your own photo boards and hang up an entire collage.

Accommodate the Clutter
Loving fashion, accessories, and makeup comes at the cost of storage space.
If your closet isn’t big enough, why not bring it into the bedroom? Fashionistas will love having an entire wall of shelves and shoe racks.
You can then turn your closet into a dressing room by draping a curtain instead of a door and adding a vanity. Make sure you have plenty of full-length mirrors and lighting so you can see your outfit from all angles. We won’t tell anyone if you decide to practice your runway walk!
